Did you hear about the new Jira feature in Trello?
Plus - I'll show you how to create a custom copy card button
Happy Thursday folks! One more week til Thanksgiving, which is probably my favorite holiday of the year. I love Christmastime but by the time Christmas Day is here, it’s pretty much gone.
Thankfully, Trello is around year round though. Let’s jump in.

⚡ Syncing cards with Trello automation
Oh hey, speaking of Thanksgiving, I’ll be taking a break from your inbox next Thursday. Go enjoy some turkey if you’re into that!
🌮 Dear Taco
This is a section where readers can submit their Trello questions, and each week I’ll pick one and answer it! It’s like “Dear Abby” but make it trello. Have a question you want to submit? Share it here.
Hi Britt.
Have you figured out a way in automations to copy a card without including the attachments? I know that when you manually copy a card it gives you this option, but in Butler it only gives you the option to leave out the comments and not much else. Thanks.
~ Forrest
Hey Forrest!
Great question, and I don’t really come across this use case a lot, but I dug into it and the best I can recommend is that you create a card button that does a “custom copy” and you use the actions for creating a new card and then piece over the pieces that you do want. For instance, the card name, member assigned, custom field values, etc.
This may not be a great solution if you’re trying to copying over a lot of due dates and labels, and just trying to avoid the attachments piece, but wanted to share in case it helps.
Want to submit your question? Maybe it’ll be featured next week!
🗞️ Coming Soon
Every year, I like to do my annual planning in Trello (shocker, I know) and reflect on the past year and plan for the next one.
I’ve shared my template before:
But this year, I’m going to lead a workshop going through this board and my process together. This is perfect if you want some guidance, need some accountability, or just enjoy planning things with folks!
Save the date for Saturday, Dec 14th, and if you’re a premium subscriber be on the lookout for a calendar invite soon!
This will only be available for my premium subscribers, but you can join for a month for just $9 and then cancel after if you don’t want to stay a subscriber. And here’s a deal to make it even more of a no brainer - you can get 15% off each month for a year!
Oh and one more exciting bit of news - I’m getting even closer with making my Checklist Due Date Power-Up ready for prime time! This is a Power-Up that automatically sets your card’s due date to be in sync with your checklists items, so your next due checklist item due date = the card due date!
I’m working with the crew at Salable to help me handle all my auth and licensing, and I’m going to be releasing the Power-Up for the lowest fee you’ve ever seen a Power-Up…
$1/mo.
Yep. That’s it. Just a dollar, for all your boards. None of this per board, per user stuff. Keeping it simple.
If you want to get on the list to be the first to try it out, make sure to fill this out if you haven’t already!

Term of the week
Butler/Automation: If you hear “Butler” that is an old term for “Trello Automation”. (It used to be a Power-Up called Butler, but then Trello acquired it and baked it into the product.)
Tip of the week
You can build automation in Trello do to the things you manually do to cards, like add members, move them to other lists, set fields, add checklists, and more! I like to write a lot about this so if you’re intrigued by this, you’ve found the right place!
