Here's how you'd update 730 cards in Trello
Plus a new live learning event, prevent board uh-ohs, and incorporate spreadsheets in Trello!
Happy Thursday, folks! We’re in the swing of summer now with the Louisiana weather and it’s our last week living in the camper 😭 I’m going to miss it, but I guess it will be cool to go back to my three bedroom condo that will feel like a mansion? 💠
Enough about campers; let’s get to Trello and all the magic!

🌮 Dear Taco
This is a section where readers can submit their Trello questions, and each week I’ll pick one and answer it! It’s like “Dear Abby” but make it trello. Have a question you want to submit? Share it here.
Is there a way to bulk change a due date on multiple cards on a board? I have purchased 2 years of daily content spread over 6 category lists. The board is dated BUT it started around 3 months ago. I am wanting to redate every card (730 of them) to bring them up to date. Possible?

Hey Nigel!
Check out a Power-Up called Bulk Actions. You can do a lot with it, including change the due date of 730 cards.
You’ll have to do it in batches and select about 80 cards at a time because of Trello’s API limits. But you’ll be able to select cards in bulk, and then you can either change the due date to something in specific (like make everything May 30th, 2024), or you can shift due dates (so move everything forward a week, month, year, etc!)
You’ll also be able to preview the changes so you can confirm it works as expected before updating all the cards.
While it’s not free, it might as well be… it’s $1/board :) So you can pay $1 and accomplish what you need to here!
Want to submit your question? Maybe it’ll be featured next week!
🗞 New(s) and Links
After the success of my first Live Learning event, I’ve decided to host another! You're in luck for those who joined and wanted more Trello, specifically more automation.
On June 4th at 9am CST, I’m hosting ANOTHER Live Learning event, all about how to Get Started with Automation in Trello.
If you’ve been using Trello for a minute and want to stop manually moving things around, assigning items, or creating cards, then you’ll want to block 60 minutes to learn these tips and tricks.
🛎️ Trello Tip of the Week
If your workspace is on a Trello Premium plan, did you know that you can set a user to have a limited role in your board? Just choose the Observer role in the Share board modal. This prevents a user from editing cards and moving them around. They only thing an Observer can do it view cards and add comments, giving them enough access to view cards and engage as needed, but not enough access to cause any trouble ;)
💡 Use Case Idea
This week, my use case is useful for me and you!
I’ve created a Trello board to keep track of my upcoming and past talks! It’s a lot to keep up with for me, so I can only imagine how tough it is for y’all.
Now, you can bookmark this board and keep an eye out for any upcoming talks.
Each card is a talk; I have a list of Upcoming talks and another for past ones. So, even if you miss a talk, you can access recordings and view some of my greatest hits! (Don’t worry—most of them are on YouTube as well, so make sure you’re subscribed there as well.)
I’m also adding a list of upcoming places I’ll be traveling to, so if you’re in one of those cities, let’s meet up!
I recommend starting a weekly habit of checking this board until I can figure out how to make a Power-Up that lets you subscribe and get alerts when a new card is added to a board. (That would be a handy Power-Up, eh?) Just head to this link and you can even view the cards in a calendar view!
💪 Tables in Trello?
I just discovered the Tables & Spreadsheets for Trello Power-Up, and I played around with it for a bit. It seems pretty niche to me, but if you want to incorporate tables in your Trello cards, you might want to check this out.
I’m not really sure when I would personally use it, but I know some folks do like their spreadsheets, and in some cases you may want to keep some data organized inside your Trello card.
They actually give away a lot for the free plan. In fact, the only reason I can see to upgrade is if you need more than 20 rows or 5 tables or want to use a custom column type of “member.” Otherwise, you’ll be good to go with the free version!
Since I like to keep these things pretty honest, I’ll call this out: Depending on your goal, you can attach a link to a Google Sheet or Excel file on your card, which might work even better.
You can even embed a Google Sheet in your card description and edit it directly inside the Trello card!
So, personally, I might lean towards this option unless I am not using Google Sheets or have some other blockers with that route.
Special shoutout to my premium sponsors!
