Label Chaos, Trello Inbox Tips, and My Team’25 Recovery Report 🛋️ 📥
Tame your labels, master the new Inbox, and catch up on everything you missed at Team’25 (including me and Mike's theater session!)
Whewhoo!! I’m back in action after what I like to call “Team + Team Recovery week” (when you have to completely unplug from everything for a week after experiencing the greatness that is talking trello non-stop for a week).
Let’s jump in!
🌮 Dear Taco
This is a section where readers can submit their Trello questions, and each week I’ll pick one and answer it! It’s like “Dear Abby” but make it trello. Have a question you want to submit? Share it here.
Here's one I've struggled with before, Labels. Our team (30+ people) works across 10 boards. Our labels are out of control. We easily have over 50 labels. Is there a way to keep them uniform across the 10 boards? About once a month I have to go to each board and clean them up.
I know the simple answer is to restructure the boards to use fewer labels, but the label filter function in each board is invaluable when we meet with a client.
Our labels are our customers and the cards are completely independent projects for each customer. Our customers can easily have 20+ projects at a time.
Thank you,
Forrest
Hey Forrest!
This might be the quickest Dear Taco answer I’ve ever done. I recently discovered this Power-Up called Unify Labels, and it does exactly what you’re describing!
Want to submit your question? Maybe it’ll be featured next week!
🗞 In Case You Missed It
If you weren’t at team, you didn’t get the chance to see me and
‘s fabulous talk about use cases for the new changes in Trello! I recorded a loom of me going through the presentation, but we actually got the live session recording that I’m sharing with you now too!Apologies in advance for the audio…. this was in the expo hall. If you are interested in the content, but bothered by the audio, watch my practice run.
We also spent some time yesterday with Kelly from Tech Savvy Academy recapping Team’25! You can catch that recap here:
🛎️ Newbie tips
New to Trello? This section will help you get up to speed and become a pro before you know it!
Term of the week
Inbox: a newly released feature in Trello which is like a special list for capturing items before sorting them into boards. You can find it by clicking the leftmost icon at the bottom of the island menu (or by pressing g+i)
Tip of the week
Forward your emails to inbox@app.trello.com to quickly capture tasks to your Trello Inbox! Not only does it actually forward the email content, Trello’s AI will summarize it and add due dates and checklists based on any action items associated with the email!
💡 Inspiration and ideas
Trello is great for planning trips, and meal planning. But I’m bringing both together for my next trip. I’m coordinating meals with multiple people and needed a birds eye view to organize the menu!
⚡ Automation tips
While many of us like the dragging and dropping, some folks actually want a button that pushes a card to the next list. You can create a card button that moves a card to the next list. Here’s what it looks like:
