Happy Thursday! I still haven’t adjusted to it being dark all the time. I know we gained an hour, but I feel like I lost 4 months. Anyways, let’s move on to the brighter things in life… Trello!

This is the section where folks submit their Trello questions, and I answer them! Like Dear Abby, but for Trello. Want to submit a question of your own? I might feature it next week!
Dear Taco,
I'm thinking to creating a Trello board that will probably be very helpful to others in my community, so I'm thinking of selling it. Can people who have a free Trello acct access it if they purchase it?
~ D.R.
Dear D.R.,
This is a great question and something that I’ve thought of doing myself. There’s a handful of ways you can go about this, and you can DEFINITELY use a free Trello account. The way that I would probably organize it is create a board that has all the resources/templates you want in it, and set the boards visibility to “private”. Then when you collect payment via something like Stripe ask them for their Trello username/email address, then simply add them to that board.
Alternatively, you could create several boards in one workplace, and then add that member to the workspace. You can have as many people as you want in a free workspace and in fact, you’d want to use the free plan because otherwise you’d have to pay for every single member of your workspace!
There’s probably a way to automate the adding of people to the board or workspace this when you get so much demand that becomes cumbersome to do, but that’s a fun problem to have :) I imagine you might have to get a little more comfortable with Trello’s API and then set something up with your form to add new members via their usernames.
Hope this helps!

Everyone gets access to all Trello views this week! It’s Premium Week at Atlassian, and if you’ve been looking for a chance to try out these features, now is the time. I don’t always need these views, but when i do they come in real handy. Timeline and Maps are my favs.

💡 Use Case Idea
It’s time for holiday shopping! And you know what that means… chaos. Playing santa, keeping lists, checking them twice. You know the drill.
I created this template years ago and I use it every year to keep track of all the shopping I’m doing and who still needs gifts. Each list is a stage of gifting I do through, such as Needs a Gift, Partially Done, Bought All Gifts, Delivered (if online… and most are), and Wrapped.
Each card is a person I need to shop for.
I keep track of ideas in the card so if i come across a link with something that I think that person might enjoy, I can just find their Trello card and attach it, then review all my options when I need to.
I also add the Package Tracker Power-Up so that once they’re ordered, I can preview the tracking info to see when it should be delivered.
Want to try it out? You’re welcome to copy my template and make it your own!
Feedback
I saw a little less engagement with these substack polls, so we’re going back to handy polls. What that means is the way you cast your vote is you just click the option you like, and you’re done!
Which of these templates and guides would you be most likely to purchase if I sold it? (Click all that apply.)
Note - these would include access to templates and video / text walkthroughs explaining how to use them
Whichever one gets the most votes is the one I’m going to create first!
That’s all for this week! I need more ideas for Dear Taco, so please send me your Trello questions!
