🌮 Dear Taco
This is a section where readers can submit their Trello questions, and each week I’ll pick one and answer it! It’s like “Dear Abby” but make it trello. Have a question you want to submit? Share it here.
I have a Notion template that I want to convert to Trello. Is this possible? How is the best way to set this up?
~Awesome Admin
Hey Awesome Admin!
First of all, welcome to the dark side!! I use Notion at work and while there are some things I like about it, you won’t be surprised to know I prefer Trello for just about every use case 😂
Getting stuff out of Notion is tough. (I had to do this last year for work when we migrated our software documentation from Notion to GitBook.) But since you’ve got tables in there, I think you might be alright.
What I would do is export your notion template and choose the Markdown & CSV option.
Then head to Trello, create a “Meetings Board” and set it up with the lists, custom fields, and and labels you have in your Notion template. Then use the Import CSV to Trello Power-Up. You’ll be able to map each row to be a card and specify where to map each row’s values in Trello.
I think you get like 10 free ones before you have to start paying, so as long as there are less than 10 databases (which there seem to be), I don’t think you’d have to pay anything!
Want to submit your question? Maybe it’ll be featured next week!
🗞 Coming up
Later today, I’ll be sharing Trello horror stories on The Jira Life! Come join us so you can avoid these scary scenarios in your own boards 😂

🛎️ Newbie tips
New to Trello? This section will help you get up to speed and become a pro before you know it!
Term of the week
Template: a board that has already been created and has pre-configured workflows.
You can find all sorts of templates in the Trello Template directory, and if you’re a premium subscriber, I also share access to some of my favorite templates I’ve created! Upgrade, and you’ll get an email right away with links to check them out.
Tip of the week
Can I copy a board even if it’s not a template?
Absolutely! You can copy any board that you have access to or a public board! Just click the three dots in the top right of the board and choose “Copy board”
💡 Inspiration and ideas
Trello just launched a new feature for their Email to Board settings. Premium users can turn on Atlassian Intelligence to make cards smarter when they’re emailed into your board.
Watch to learn:
What field can be updated when you email a card to a board
Examples for using this (like an upcoming event for trip details)
How to enable it (setting on the board + Atlassian Intelligence in the workspace!)
Here’s some other cool stuff you can do in Trello:
Download everything from Trello with these Power-Ups
Set recurring due dates automatically on your cards
Using a checklist to create a card and then sync the two together
Searching custom fields
Sharing this comment from the Atlassian Community as it’s made my whole entire day/week/month/maybe even year!!
This is why I love to do it, folks. So happy to help, and I hope you all keep bringing the questions and I can keep bringing the answers!
⚡ Automation tips
I think I got out of hand with my latest automation this week 😂 Not something most folks would use, but really shows how more automation opportunities open up when you string a few rules together:
