Your Trello wish could be a command
Exciting changes coming to Trello, but I can't say much yet. What do you wish it will be?
Happy circle back in the new year time folks!
This is the last you’ll hear from me for a few weeks as I’ll be taking some time away to spend with family and friends, and when I’m not doing that, I want to hustle and finish my Power-Up :)
Btw, I can’t say much about it, but Trello has some AWESOME updates coming up in January, so I’ve gotta get ready for all the awesome content I’ll be sharing around that. To make sure these upcoming announcement emails don’t get lost in your inbox, can you just reply to this email with one feature you’d love to see in Trello?
(This will tell your email provider to make sure to show you my emails and will also help me share feedback with the Trello product team. And, hey, if your wish is something I know is coming, I might just be able to confirm or deny. 🤫)
🌮 Viewing multiple cards at once
This is a section where readers can submit their Trello questions, and each week I’ll pick one and answer it! It’s like “Dear Abby” but make it trello. Have a question you want to submit? Share it here.
I love using the desktop app. But one of my frustration is I'm often working with info from multiple cards at the same time. I'll have my research here, and a action checklist there, and my client contact info on yet another card. Its a little annoying to constantly having to close, open, close, reopen, etc. Is the only workaround to use a browser version to have multiple open Trello cards? (I always already have wayyyy too many browsers open that I'd really rather stay in the app. :/ )
~ Anna
Hey Anna! This is one of the reasons I don’t actually prefer the Trello desktop app. When it first came out, I was all over it, but now I much prefer using Trello in the browser - for many reasons.
While I don’t know of a workaround with this in the Trello desktop, would a solution to be using a different browser for Trello? Ie, maybe you use Chrome for your majority browsing, you could use Firefox for Trello, and then have multiple boards/cards open in that Firefox instance. And then it would still be like a separate app, away from your daily driver browser.
Want to submit your question? Maybe it’ll be featured next week!
🗞 Not too late for annual planning
My annual planning workshop last weekend was such a hit that I think I’ll offer another one in January!
For anyone who gets the Annual Planning Template, I’ll invite you to any upcoming workshop sessions I do in January, so if you haven’t got the template yet, there’s still time!
🛎️ Newbie tips
New to Trello? This section will help you get up to speed and become a pro before you know it!
Term of the week
Power-Up: an add-on for your Trello boards, typically developed by someone outside of Trello/Atlassian, but some are developed by Trello!
Tip of the week
Explore the Power-Up directory and search for any keywords of things you want to solve in Trello. For instance, are you trying to connect with Typeform? Search for that and see if there’s a Power-Up. Are you trying to incorporate flowcharts? Search for that!
BONUS (cause it is the holidays and all): You’ll find all sorts of things, and while you should explore to your hearts content, don’t click “add” to every single Power-Up you see. It will clutter your board with a bunch of buttons and actions that you might not even end up using. Try to only add Power-Ups that solve a specific problem you already have, not one you’re thinking you might have down the line!
💡 Inspiration and ideas
Quick holiday gift for you all!! I’ve been making my 2025 Trello boards and using ChatGPT to help me generate some board backgrounds, and I’m absolutely obsessed with my holiday annual planning background 😻
Feel free to save it and use it on your boards!
