🙆 Personal productivity tips in Trello
🌮 Dear Taco
This is my newest section where readers submit their Trello questions, struggles, or woes, and I help them sort through it! Here’s the first installment.
Dear Taco,
How do I make a new list appear every Monday morning, with every card on my previous week’s list copied to the new list with repeatable items on it for stuff I have to do every week?
Dear Weekly List Warrior,
Wow, no wonder you have the Sunday Scaries! I’d be dreading Monday too if I had to queue up my to do list by hand! But don’t worry, I can help.
All you need is ONE piece of Trello Automation - a “calendar” rule. Go to Automations —> Calendar, and then “Create Command”. Add a trigger for “Every Sunday” (or Monday… or whatever day you want… you can even specify a time).
And then go to the lists and select the first action for creating a list. Using Butler variables, we’ll make the list title “Week of {dateshort}” which will increase the date the card was created when this list is created. Specify the position you want it, such as the first list, or the last one, etc.
Lastly, go to the “add card” section and add a card for each of the repeating tasks that you want! (Make sure to add it to the list you just created - just reference the same way you did the list name… like this!)
To test it, save the rule, and the click the rocket icon in the rule’s toolbar.
Hope this helps!!
💙,
Taco

🗞 New(s) And Upcoming
🎉 12 Hours of Trello. We’re about to finally answer the question “how long can Brittany talk about Trello?”. I’m going live for 12 hours talking with folks from Atlassian, power-up creators, and other Trello enthusiasts to see just how much we can say about Trello in 12 hours. Oh, and I’m raising money for children’s hospitals while we do it! Save your spot for reminders, swag, and I’ll donate $1 for every signup: Register Now.
Forms by Blue Cat Pricing increases next Monday! If you’ve been thinking about using forms to get data into Trello, now’s the time to upgrade as you can get 100 submissions a month for $19, but starting next week it goes up to $29.
Import to Trello and Swimlanes Power-Ups launched on Product Hunt yesterday! I talked about Import to Trello last week, but in case you’re wondering what others think, check out the comments.

⚡️ Featured Power-Up
Wish you could use Trello’s Timeline View with more than just one board? You might want to check out the Gantt Chart Power-Up from Placker!
Once you add it to your board, you’ll be able to select which other boards you want to incorporate in your gantt chart.
Automatically, you’ll see your cards plotted by date on the x axis and by list on the y axis!
Click a card to view even more details than what are in the Trello card!
You can plan dates and set an amount of effort, which is a great way to chart multiple tasks in a project.
You can even adjust the length by simply dragging and dropping the end of a card then see the duration reflected with the changes.
You’ve also got tons of options for setting the layout, order of the cards, styling it with colors, and even comparing it to your plan.
I will note that this is a paid power-up but it comes with a free trial, so you’ll have plenty of time to see if it’s worth the price for you and your team.
You Gantt live without this one! 😂 (get it?)

💡 Use Case Idea
Instead of just featuring ONE use case idea, I’d like to share this post I found on Medium by Josef Cruz that shows NINE different ideas for personal productivity in Trello!
He shows more and includes templates but in case you’d like a sneak peak, here’s a few he mentions:
Apartment hunting
Looking for a job
Writing a novel
Organizing holiday gifts
What other things do you use Trello for outside of work? Include your in the comments and inspire other folks!
That’s all for this week folks! I didn’t get much engagement with the substack poll last week, so i’m going to try once more and if i dont see an increase, we’ll go back to the handy polls with the link clicks!
